This majestic estate belonged to Barbara Hutton Woolworth and was built over a period of six years, ending on 1959, after an intense quest for a place with excellent climate, magnetism, and historic roots. The name means a place of peace, tranquillity and long life, notions that describe the environment that prevails in this palace to perfection. The symbol of the hotel is a lotus flower with three converging swords that represent wisdom and love.
Location
The hotel is located to the southeast of Cuernavaca, only 10 min away from the Autopista del Sol (Mexico-Acapulco highway), in one of the most exclusive developments of the city, characterized by its varied vegetation and picturesque architecture. It is also located just 10 min away from the Industrial City of the Valley of Cuernavaca (CIVAC) and 15 min away from downtown Cuernavaca.

Majestic residence built by the millionaire Barbara Hutton, who gave it the name Sumiya, which means "a place of peace, tranquility, and longevity". It is an oriental style construction, with pathways, traditional gardens, pagodas and characteristic shapes. Mahogany in particular is used. The facilities include a replica of the Kabuki theatre from the old town of Kyoto, where you can admire the Ofuro bath, the meditation garden, original paintings on sheets of gold, the tree of life and the bread tree.
