The family-friendly hotel, formerly known as Bucharest Hotel, was taken over by the famous Romanian footballer Gica Hagi in 1999. Considerable investment and a modernisation programme were undertaken and two years later, on 4 July 2001, a brand new hotel appeared on the map of Mamaia.
